Fishing

The Little Snake River begins at the confluence of three streams, the North Fork, Middle Fork and South Fork. Day trips to these high mountain streams are popular in both Colorado and Wyoming.

The Little Snake River runs through the ranch for about two miles and the trout fishing is excellent early and late. A large snow pack extends the fishing season. The streams are ideal for fly fishing, although the fish are not fussy about the kind of rod used. There are two large lakes within 25 miles.

Hiking
At Focus Ranch, guests enjoy the many opportunities to hike the trails either on the ranch or in the national forests, Medicine Bow (Wyoming) and Routt (Colorado). There are easy, short hikes along the Little Snake River or up Spring Creek. Those who want distance can hike for miles on public land.Focus Ranch headquarters are at about 7000 ft. in elevation. Mountains surround the valley and are a great opportunity for climbing. A favorite one of our guests is Sheep Mountain, about 8300 ft. The view it offers is spectacular. Other mountains in the area are Battle Mt. and Hahn’s Peak.

Mountain Biking
Several of our guests choose to occasionally ride a bike rather than a horse. Mountain bikers make use of the existing trails and roads to enjoy the scenery minus interruptions from motorized vehicles.
